英语影评:《结婚证书 License to Wed 》
Believe it or not, the worst moments of "License to Wed" are shown in those dreadful theatrical trailers and TV , that doesn't mean the rest of the film is enjoyable. It's just not as excruciating or hard to sit through as those noxious bits.
This crude and unfunny comedy represents one of the low points in what has already been a disappointing summer-movie season, and it is a further embarrassment to the sinking movie careers of Robin Williams and Mandy Moore.
Moore plays Sadie Jones, a Chicago florist. Sadie's live-in boyfriend, Ben Murphy (John Krasinski), has just proposed and they're now busy planning her dream wedding.
Ben would like to get married somewhere in the tropics. But Sadie wants a church ceremony, with longtime family friend Reverend Frank (Williams) conducting. But that means they'll have to get married in three weeks, since the church is nearly booked.
The pastor wants the couple to complete a marriage-preparation course before he'll sign off on their union. But Ben and Sadie aren't ready for his intrusive methods,英语影评 which include starting arguments between the blissful couple, and bugging their apartment — to make sure there's no fooling around before the wedding.
Krasinski is affable enough on TV's "The Office," but he's too bland to be leading-man material, and the film forces him into that uncomfortable position. And Moore's character is surprisingly unlikable. It's clear that she's not sure how to play a spoiled-rich control-freak, and her performance is tentative and confused.
That may explain why veteran director Ken Kwapis ("The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants," TV's "The Office") lets Williams cut loose in the film. Unfortunately, Williams' vamping, improv style of comedy grew tiresome more than a decade ago, making him an extra irritant in a film that already has too many.
